2020 Vision
We are growing on 100 beds of 40 feet and 35 beds of 100 feet. We are adding 15 more 100 foot beds and 10 more 40 foot beds. We like to apply about 1 yard of organic compost per 100 feet.
How good it feels to be ahead of the game! We have already solved issues we started with early last year and the fields prove it. The gardens beds looked so nice going into this year, and after 60 cubic yards of organic compost most of them are already full of lines of directly sown cutting greens and root crops and young transplants of brassicas and lettuce heads. The demand is high for locally grown, minimally handled, fresh produce and we are preparing even more beds to try to grow as much high quality food as we can for the community.

Everyone is doing there part to be conscious and considerate of one another’s health and we are adapting to the circumstances in the field and at the markets. As we always have, we wash our bins every morning before harvest. Sammy and I are the only farmers to harvest and handle your produce. We harvest fresh for markets and never have produce for sale that is more than 48 hours off the plant (except storage crops). I have been through the Food Safety Modernization Act training and am certified to produce and handle food. Sammy has a Managers Serv Safe Certification from her experience running a kitchen at a local club. We strive to take into great consideration food allergies so none of our customers have to worry about their food being contaminated with chemicals, inexperienced food handlers, or cross contamination.
The Farmers Markets that host us are doing their part as well. Producers have now adopted an online pre-order system to allow customers to shop from the comfort of their home, and pick up all of their great local products at the market with-out contact. We will be updating our Online Ordering page weekly for you to shop for your favorite seasonal vegetables or just conveniently buy a Weekly Box of the weeks bounty. Ask to join our email list, and follow us and your local farmers market on Facebook to stay up to date and get reminders.
Organic matter, covering the soil, and minimal tillage help huge worms and soil biology to thrive, feeding the vegetable crops.
We are so grateful for all of the support from the community and are so happy to provide good food as a living. Every year gets better than the last, and the last one was great. We’ll be investing in caterpillar tunnels this season to extend the harvest all year round. Stay in the loop and follow Sammy’s updates on Facebook and Instagram, and check back here for blogs about what’s happening in the fields. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we all work together to stay healthy and connected, even if from a distance.
